LAWN TENNIS.

AUCKLAND CLUB. The annual meeting of the Auckland Lawn Tennis Club was held on Thursday evening, Mr. T. Keesing presiding over a good attendance of members. The report of the treasurer was a satisfactory one, showing a credit balance of £26. Prizes won last year were distributed to the following: Miss Woodroffo (ladies' championship singles), Mrs. Palothorpe (ladies' handicap singles), Mrs. Allen and Miss: Mace (ladies' doubles), H. Snelling (men's championship and handicap singles), Misa Calvert and Snelling (combined doubles), Maddox and Snelling (men's doubles). The resignations of Mr. Palethorpe as secretary, and Mr. O. S. Swinnock as ground' superintendent, were received with regret, and votes of thanks were accorded to them for the valuable services they have given to the club. . The election of officebearers resulted as follows: President, Mr. J. M. Mennie; vice-presidents, the Mayor (Mr. L. J. Bagnall), Messrs. A. M. Myers, J. F. Pullen ; hon. secretary, Mr. H. P. GOLF. »' AUCKLAND CLUB MATCHES. ■;.' The ; second •? round of the': captain's • prize will be played at the' OtahuHu links to-day. Members are requested to note that byes mat bo claimed for any matches in the first round not played. The Empire Day mixed foursomes match will take place on Tuesday. Players choose their own partners. MAUNGAKIEKIE CLUB'S OPENING. The formal opening of the new clubhouse of the Maungakiekie (One-tree Hill) Golf Club will take place to-day. There will be mixed foursomes during the afternoon, and tea will be dispersed to members and their friends, who are cordially invited to be present. - ■.- - WAITEMATA CLUB. Owing to the races being held at the Takapuna course to-day, members are requested to take their clubs from the clubhouse early this morning. The next match on the Waitemata Golf Club's programme is for the Laing memorial cup. Conditions are 18 holes, stroke play, handicap, post entries. AUCKLAND LADIES' CLUB. The draw for Mr. Colbeck's match is as follows: Kirker plays Miss Clark; Miss Bloomfield plays Miss Buller; Miss M. Hesketh plays Miss R. Miss Richmond plays Miss Martin in the semi-final, and.Miss Alison the winner of those two in the .final. . In the final for Mrs. Lewis' cup Miss Pierce beat Miss W. Cotter by 5 up and 4 to play. The Coronation medal will be played on Friday next. Entries close on Monday. ATHLETICS. j AUCKLAND AMATEUR CLUB. The final committee meeting of the season of the Auckland Amateur Athletic and Cycle Club was held at the Sports Club on Thursday evening. Mr. A. Hoey, the Channel aspirant, who left by the Huddart-Parker ' steamer Wimmera for Sydney en route to England last Monday evening, gave an exhibition off Queenstreet Wharf just before the • boat sailed.
