CHURCH MEETINGS.

ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST CHURCH. '«•..-. Thls annual meeting of parishioners of St ; -. John the Baptist Church, "' Northcote, wa3 l ;/. held on Friday night, the. vicar'(the Rov.; A. - F. ! Smith) being in' the chair, The vestry's report stated that there had been/during the 1 past year 5* celebrations of Holy Communion, with 661 ' receptions, . 22 baptisms, eight burials, and four marriages.' The collections totalled £152 2s Id, with ; special collections £8 6s 3d. The cash account showed that £258 18* M had been raised during the year. On. the Sunday-School roll there are 103, with seven teachers,'- the average .attendance of scholars being 61. The choir' membership is 18.' Trie Guild reported a' very successful year. The ladies /, have paid £117 lOs'bff the Parish-Hall . debt, . thus reducing it to £40. ■ During the year I the-Guild has raised £152 fid. - Regular fortnightly services have been held _ at 'i Birkenhead 1 and Birkdale. Mr. Horace H. Hunt was i reappointed vicars warden, and 5r;S Mr. A. Tyer was re-elected parishioners', warden. The following were elected members of the vestry:—Messrs. Adams, Budd, Cadncss, D'raffin, A. Harrison, V.' Smith, A. . Taylor, W. Thompson, Van -Veen, and .Weeks; auditor,^ Mr., Redgrave. ..Tholaj; readers, Messrs. , E. H.: Harrison ,and-H. H. Canon Haseldcn, presided over the annual meeting, of' parishioners held in St. Peter's Church Parish - !Hall,'Oriehunga..,, The report forth© year ended March 01, .which was adopted, stated that "the communions made were,' 1148 as against 1099 for the previous year, - and the communicants - 225, "as against 210. More teachers. were, needed in ; the < Sunday-school. The church.balances were as? follows:—-New •;-,--:- church building , fund, in the. ' hands of the ; Trust Board £850:13s 4d, in the "Auckland Savings. The general offertory for the year-had- been. £203 lis 9d, an increase, of £10 12s lOd oyer the previous year; seat rents, £74- '2s; special offertories, £25 2s Bd. The following office-bearers were elected:—Vicar's warden, Mr.: John A. Skinner; "people's warden, Mr. W. Stevens; / vestrymen, ' Messrs. J. E. Kelsall, A. S. J Holmes, H. .T.'Smith, H.C. Barker, J Ward, R. H. S. Richardson, J. Straw; auditor, Mr. A. . Skinner. ; It was resolved that a special effort be" made three times each year to increase the church building ' fund, which now ,stands' at £854.
