OPENING OF THE GAME SEASON.
DEsriTE the fact that many sportsmen have strongly advocated a close season this year, and tho protection of all game, it has at last been decided that tho shooting of black swan, grej duck, and other imported game shall be permitted for a period of one month from 14th May next. This refers to those districts which shall . havi> specially applied for an open season, and : only to thoso varieties of game for which exemption from tho provisions of the Animals Protection Act has*, been sought. Already, as a result of this intimation by the Hon. Mr. Buddo, there has set in , a strong demand for ammunition on tho part of those who are equipping themselves in good time'.
