MAORI CHIEF'S DEATH.
[BY TELEGRAPH.— ASSOCIATION.] WnANOAREr, Saturday. Hotkrexe Te Kawiti, a notable Maori chief of the Ngatimanu tribe, died at Waiomio, hear Kawakawa, last Thursday evening. Deceased;was a grandson of To Kawiti, who was Hone Heke's general during the Maori war. Natives are reported to be gathering in large numbers from all parts of the North to attend the tangi.
