THE TENNESSEE MURDER.

COLONEL COOPER PARDONED. By Telegraph.— Press Association.—Copyright London, April 13. The Supreme Court of Tennessee confirmed the 20 years' sentence on Colonel Duncan Cooper for the murder of ex-Senator Carmack, and granted Robin Cooper a re-trial. The Governor thereupon pardoned Colonel Cooper. Ex-Senator Carmack's friends are indignant at the Governor's hasty action. The murder was the outcome of a political vendetta, the feud between the accused and Mr. Carmack culminating in a demand by Colonel Cooper that Mr. Carmack should never mention his name again in the Tennessean, a newspaper owned and edited by the late senator. While Mr. Carmack was speaking in the street to Mrs. Eastman, a prominent society woman, the Coopers shot him before the ex-senator could fire the revolver which he had drawn from his hip pocket on seeing his enemiesapproach.
