THE local committee ' .of the :; Auckland branch of the (Flying Angel) Mission . to Seamen, met in the Diocesan Church Office. > Shortland-street. on Wednesday, there being j present: Messrs. rP.j G. Ewinffton' and R. Maris Clark (treasurer), also the missioner. .The miisioher (Mr. Arthur P. Cowie) submitted Ms report, which showed that 66 visits Iliad been paid to vessels in harbour.' . The suljscriptions received had amounted to £35 Is. and offertories 19s llid. Thirty-one J parcels, of literature had been distributed to shipping, and 86 seamen assisted in various ways, ; employment being found for 18. i The niiasioner reported that lie had been i meeting with great encouragement, and that , Auckland merchants and others had been 1 most generous in their gifts of money and provisions,! Over 500 seamen a month attend the institute. > —* '■, % ' : MOUNT WELLINGTON ROAD BOARD. At last meeting of the Mount Wellington , Road Board the chairman (Mr. Thompson) L; : stated that Messrs. Head and Bailey had ] been instructed to apply for a commission to settle about . tho boundary road betweenMount Wellington district and the One-tree * Hill Road District. ; The balance-sheet for the year ended March 31, 1910. showed receiota totalling £812 6s 10d, and after meet--1 ing expenditure a balance in; bank and hand I remained of £80 0s 4d. It was resolved that, , nominations of the candidates for the new Board* be received up till noon of Tuesday, 1 April 26. There was a largo gathering at tho social • which was held last evening in connection with the 68th anniversary of the Beresford- . street Congregational Church. A : presenta--1 tion was made during the 1 ' evening to; Mr. i Edmonds on behalf of the members of tho Stinday-Bchool, vin recognition of his valuable services in connection with the School. Addresses wero delivered by the Revs. : W. ) Da" E A. Bridger, and H. Steele.
