A BUILDER'S FRAUDS.

George Franklin, a Southampton builder, committed suicide in the Holborn public baths on Tuesday, and since his death frauds totalling £100,000 have been discovered. Nearly every solicitor and bank in Southampton was - victimised. One bank lost £16,000. Franklin sometimes raised * money nine times upon the same land by means of bogus leases. He lost the proceeds of his frauds in speculation. . Two or three, solicitors, who discovered that they held duplicate deeds, called a general meeting, at which over 50 Hampshire, Dorset, and Wiltshire solicitors attended. They had all been similarly tricked. Franklin was highly respected, and was a justice of the peace, (Received February 22, 10 p.m.) London, February 22. One of Franklin's victims, a solicitor, suffered to the extent of £20,000, while several others have lost, sums of £10,000 and upwards.
