;. t ■ . Rotorija, Monday. Thk S.M. Court was occupied all afternoon hearing the case Hotham v. Hotham, a wife suit for a separation order and maintenance on the grounds of cruelty. Ihc evidence given by the J principals and the witnesses on both sides was very conflicting. The Bench attached credibility, to the complainant's case, granted separation, made an order for the payment of £1 a week maintenance, - and gave the mother custody of the child of the marriage. - The parties lived at Otahuhu until lately.

Waihi, Monday.
The new Church of Christ building, off Seddon-street, was opened yesterday, the services being conducted in the presence of a good congregation by Messrs. G. Aldridge (Auckland) and C. B. King (travelling evangelist).
. Harvest thanksgiving services were held in the Wesleyan , Church yesterday, the building being appropriately decorated with flowers'; fruit; and', produce. The Rev.' J. Wrigley was " the preacher, and the congregations were large. Suitable anthems were rendered by the choir, under Mr. Emerson's leadership, and: Mies Morgan presided at the organ..■ -At the evening service - Mr. Osborne; gave an impressive rendering of the solo, " Remember, Now, Thy Creator."
TAUMARUNUI.

Taumarundx, Monday,
, A man named McCauley, a local chopping champion, had his foot badly crushed by a flitch falling on him at Bennett and Knight's mill, Ongarue. He is now in'the Taumarunui'Hospital. A subscription is being taken up to purchase an up-to-date stretcher ambulance / for conveying patients from the railway -station to the hospital. - •

WiiANGAREr,-Monday: V- The boarding school recently erected in connection with the convent. of the Sisters of St. Joseph was opened and blessed by His Lordship Dr. Lenihan yesterday. There were also , present at the ceremony Fathers Patterson (Auckland) and 'Smiers (Whangarei). This fine building was erected from the remains from the old post office,: which was pulled down, and • . sold Vto . Father Smiers. The new school accommodates 50 boarders at, present. , ' ■

Mr. Gilbert Wayman, a member of the local ' branch ,of ,the Salvation Army, was tendered a farewell 'by^ that corps, prior to his departure for the training garrison at Melbourne. Mr. Wayman has for a number of yean; past been connected with the locomotive branch of the railway staff.
