A youth,, who had been arrested for drunkenness the previous evening, appeared in the Police Court yesterday morning with half-a-sovereign in his possession. Ho had been searched according to regulations, but the coin in question had evidently evaded the vigilance of the police. The presiding magistrate, Mr. C. C. Kettle, said, that he was unable to understand that such a state of affairs was possible. This was by no means the first case of inefficient searching that had come under his notice; and he would ask the station-sergeant to report the matter to the inspector of police
