HOSPITAL BOARD.

The Auckland Hospital' and' Charitable Aid Board met yesterday. Mr. 0. D. Grey prosided, and there'wore also present: Messrs. L. .1. Bagnall, M. Maekay, W. Johns, M. J. Coyle, U. Knight,J. (-!. Rutherford, E. H. Potter, A. Sturges, and .7. Jenkin.

Charitable Aid: The Charitable Aid Committee roported that, five new cases hud been considered during the fortnight ended February 13 and 17 old cases. Seven persons had been admitted in the Costley Home. Nurses' Homo Enlargement: It was resolved that the Board meet the honorary staff on the evening of Wednesday, March 2, to consider the enlargement, of the nurses' home. v ■

Heating Apparatus: The resident engineer, to whom the matter had been referred, reported that the existing plant was not suitable or adequate to generate steam required to supply the proposed new system of heating. The present site was not suited for the installation of a larger boiler or an extra one, and lie. suggested tho choosing of another and mono central site by which the length of steam delivery pipe's could bo" reduced! and ■' a > reduction of loss due to,radiation and condensation effected. The most, suitable position would lie bofwoen. the fever ward and the Costlev buildings, facing the 'Park Road. Ho suggested the Lancashire boiler as the . most suitable, and thought that .two should -bo placed in battery. 'The cost of fittings would lie about £700 ]>cr boiler. The chairman of tho commitee (Mr. Sturges) stated that the cost of erecting a building and putting in plant and radiation pipes for the whole buildinar would be about £3800.
