Garland, W. Murray, C. Norgrove, L. T. Thompson, and W. L. ■ The Tramway Company wrote stating that they wore afraid the. Public 'Works Department would not allow the public to use the now tramway extension at. Richmond unless the road contractor hastened with his work. After considerable discussion, in which it was. stated that the contractor had been hampered in his work' by the tramway poles and other material lying about,* it was resolved to communicate with the Public Works Department in order .to endeavour to let the cars' run as quickly as possible. .It was also resolved to defer- consideration of the time occupied by the contractor until his 'contract was up. A letter was received from 'several shopkeepers and others on the Ponsonby and Great North Roads protesting against the nuisance caused by the Tramways Company's sprinkler in the way of raising dust. Several members complained that the nuisance was caused by . the speed with which the sprinkler went. It was resolved t;o notify the Tramways Company to modify the speed of the sprinkler.
