' TOMOAXA FROM LONDON. The-Trser liner Tomoana arrived from London, via Australia, at 4 p.m. on Saturday, and after inspection berthed at Queen-street Wharf. She left the Homa port on December 15 and arrived at Melbourne on February 3, leaving again on ■ the Wh for Sydney, which port was reached on the Uth. After discharging cargo the Tomoana took her departure from Sydney for. Auckland, on the 14th at 6 p.m. and arrived a* above. Fftte weather was met with on the voyage. Captain D. McQueen, late of the s.s.' Hawke's Bay, is now i master of the Tomoana, and expects the steamer to resume her voyage to Southern ports- on Wednesday. . ' s .-'■"'.. THE FETONE IVES. The steamer Petone arrived from Greymouth at 7.30 a.m. on Saturday with a cargo of : coal for the s.s. Buteshire. She met with fine weather on the voyage and berthed at the Railway Wharf to tranship her freight into the Home trader. WIMMERA FROM THE SOUTH. The s.s. Wimmera, Captain William Waller, arrived from Dnnedin, via ports, at 9.30 a.m. yesterday after a fine weather passge tad lierthed at-Hobson-Btreet Wharf. She sails for Sydney at 5.30 p.m. to-day. THE SYDNEY BOAT. Fine clear weather, with light variable winds and smooth seas, accompanied the s.s. Victoria (Captain G. F. Entwiste) en the voyage from Sydney to Auckland. The steamer reached port' at 3.30 p.m. yesterday, and after inspection berthed at Queen-street Wharf. To-morrow afternoon she will leave for Dunedin. via port*. ,'r i ' THE STAR OF AUSTRALIA. The s.s. Star of Australia, in continuation of her voyage from New YOrk and Australia, left Sydney on Saturday afternoon for Auckland, and should put in an appearance here about Thursday n*"-t. . THE VANCOUVER It Is understood that the re-instatement of the Malta! in the Sydney-Brisbane-Vancouver trade is to. be only a temporary arrangement, and she will be later on replaced by a smarter vessel. Some definite announcement will" probably be made when the Vancouver mail contract is renewed. It is , already reported, however, that the Manuka will.shortly withdraw from.the intercolonial running, and will sail from Sydney for Brisbane and Vancouver on May 9. TRANSHIPMENTS. The s.s. * Victoria, which reached Auckland yesterday afternoon from Sydney, brought transhipments ex Hellenic from Sweden, Yawata Maru from Japan, Schwabeu, .V,sburg, Werms, and Rostock from Germany. MOKOIA TO REPLACE HAUROTO. Mindful of "the importance of passenger traffic that has steadily developed since the inauguration of the Wclling-ton-Karot"nga-Pnpeete-'Frioco service, the Union Steam Ship Company has decided ta withdraw the Hauroto from the service and replace her by the fine passenger steamer Mokoia. The latter will take up the running, leaving \Yellingtoir for Rarotong.i and Pa|>eete on Marc»i 16. -Her second trip will lie from Wel-lington-on April 21. but beyond that no sailings are fixed. The Mokoia has "been engaged in the intercolonial service for a considerable . period. Until December last she was plying direct betveen Auckland and Sydney, but for the cast couple of months her running has'lteen from Dunedin to Auckland' to connect with the Maheno for .Sydney.
