YOUNG WOMAN'S THEFTS.
ESCAPADES IN HOUSES. [BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION'.] ;V - : , : ,'.' : Dtjnedin, Friday. At the Police Court to-day Martha Bas-. San, a good-looking young woman, was charged with a series of'thefts from private houses, hotels, and private hotels, of goods of a total value of over . £54. Watches, bracelets, rings, blouses, petticoats —all served her turn. She actually slept in one private house in the absence of the occupants on holiday, and was caught there by a young son of the owner. There' were eight such charges against her, and she pleaded guilty to all, and was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. When arrested she was wearing some of the stolen jewellery, and portion she had pawned. Another charge of theft is pending. against her.
