SOME AUCKLAND VOTES.
DISSATISFIED MEMBERS. [by TELEGRAPH.—SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT.] Wellington, Tuesday. The sum of £5000 appears on the Public Works Estimates for testing the Thames deep levels. A sum of £500 appears on the Public Works Estimates under the heading of " Ohinemuri River rilting." Last year £1000 was voted for the came purpose, but only £4 was expended. The report of the Mines Committee on the petitions lately presented on the subject will probably be submitted to the House tomorrow. The roads and bridges votes for the Auckland electorates do not appear to have given unmixed satisfaction. The King Country again figures very well, but
the votes for the Waikato ai\d the goldfields districts are regarded as only moderately satisfactory. The Marsden items have not given satisfaction to the member for that district, but the Bay of Islands and Kaipara appear to have fared better. A great proportion of last year's votes in various districts was unexpended. JOTTINGS. The Legislative Council has agreed not to insist on its amendments in the Lands for Settlement Administration Bill and State-guaranteed Bill, as it did not wish to endanger the measures at this late stage of the session, but it denied that it had infringed the privileges of the House. The Stamp Duties Bill and King Country Licenses Bill passed through all their stages in the Legislative Council to-night. It is still uncertain when the session will close, but the end is expected to be reached on Friday, if not on Thursday night, although a few members still assert that the prorogation cannot take place this side of Christmas.
