The Rev. R. Sommerville, clerk of the Auckland Presbytery, is visiting Dargaville. Mr. and Mrs. Dilg, of Chicago, leave , Vuckland to-day to spend a few weeks in the Islands. Mr. A. E. Snaith has been promoted from Tauranga to the position of postmaster at Taupo. . Mr. F. E. Baume, M.P. (savs our Parliamentary correspondent), left Wellington for Auckland by last night's express. Mr. J. W. Macdonald, solicitor to the Public Trust Office, Wellington, with Mrs. Maedonald, is at present on a visit to Auckland. Dr. Wohlmann, Government balneologist at Rotorua, and Mrs. Wohlmann, return to Rotorua this morning after a holiday in Auckland. A movement is on foot to ask the Mayor to call a public meeting with a view to arranging a civic testimonial to Mr. H. W. Northcroft, S.M., who is retiring from the Bench. Mr. Cyril Mahon, late secretary of the Mari&t Brothers Old Boys' Association, was presented with a purse of sovereigns by the association. Bishop Lenihan presided, and made the presentation. Mr. William Lemins, B.Sc., London, who has been appointed assistant-director of technical education for the Auckland district, is at present .assistant-inspector in j the Blackburn district, Lancashire. At a meeting of the Dunedin Presbytery yesterday (says a Dunedin Press Association message) it was decided unanimously to sustain the call made by the Port Chalmers congregation to the Rev. A. Whyte, of Havelock, Hawke's Bay. Last evening at the Drill Hall the officers, non-commissioned officers, and men of the Auckland garrison presented a souvenir to Mr. E. Lee, the ex-caretaker of the Drill Hall, who resigned some months ago, after having occupied the positiori for 41 years. Colonel Wolfe made the presentation, and referred to Mr. Lee's long connection with the Drill Hall. Mr. Lee suitably replied. A quiet wedding, which nevertheless caused a great deal of interest (says a Christ church Press Association message), was celebrated in St. Peter's Church, Riccarton, yesterday afternoon, the contracting parties being Mr. John Studholme, of Coldstream (Ash burton),' and Miss Katherine Georgina Bowen, daughter of the Hon. C. C. Bowen, Speaker of the Legislative Council. The bride was given away by, her father. The ceremony was performed by the Bishop of Christchurch, assisted by the acting-vicar of Riccarton, the Rev. F. G. Brittain. The service was choral.
