CITY IN FESTIVE GARB.

The attractions of the festive season become more apparent as each succeeding day draws nearer to Christmas Eve, which, after all, is the grand spectacular climax to which end the commercial immunity of Auckland is combining its skilled forces of display. Every day witnesses a thicker throng in Queen-street, Karangahape Road, and the other main business arteries, while the parading of window-lined pavements continues until late in the evening. Some of tho more elaborately decorated windows, with their bold attempts at novel effects, have been attracting crowds of spectators, and as each day sees some such new scheme evolve, so the popular interest is maintained. Still, bright as the spectacle already appears, especially with the brilliantj lighting devices of eventide, there is yet more to follow, and Friday next should be the occasion of a gay civic picture. <

Tho brands of tobacco, etc., in stock are almost as numerous as tho assortments of pipes. Another lino which Mr. Coleman makes a speciality of as much as anyone in Auckland are walking canes and sticks. They aro interesting alone for the variety of their designs, for tho neatness of their mountings, and .for their reasonable prices. Did space permit much more elaboration might be indulged in with regard to these attractive shows. It should bo said, however, that tho tonsorial departments are important adjuncts, and tho combined staff of expert hairdressers, etc., now busily engaged, is of considerable dimension. Mr. Coleman is now wishing his Auckland customers "A Merry Christmas" for tho, twentieth year in succession.
