MEETINGS.
CHRISTIAN UNITY SOCIETY.
The first annual meeting of the Auckland Christian Unity Society was held yesterday morning in the Church of England Diocesan Room, Auckland. There were present: Bishop Neligan, Canons Mac Murray and Haselden, the Revs. F. Larkins, A. North, W. R. Woolley, W. Trotter, S. Griffiths, H. Young, J. H. Lewis, J. C. Fussell, R. Ferguson, A. Miller, H. A. Hawkins, M. . Kirkbride, W. Gray Dixon, H. Steele-Craik, T. Fisher, A. F. Smith, G. Maunsell, G. B. Munro, J. M. Simpson, W. H. Johnston, Messrs. F. Davis, R. Laing, H. Grinstead, and G. H. Ralph. The Litany was prayed by all present. The report and bal-ance-sheet were read and adopted. The following officers for the ensuing year were elected: —President, the Rev. W. Gray Dixon; vice-presidents, Bishop Neligan and the Rev. George Bond hon. secretary and treasurer, Canon Haselden. It was agreed that in future the meetings be on the third Tuesday in February, April, June, August, October, and December in the Church of England room, Shortland-street, at 10.30 a.m. The Rev. H. Steele-Craik read a very thoughtful paper on "The Christian Church," from the Congregational standpoint, and it was discussed very earnestly. A committee, consisting of the officers of the society and the Rev. W. Trotter, was appointed to draw up a syllabus for the meetings during 1910. Apologies for absence were received from the Revs. W. H. Edgell, George Bond, and A. Doull.
W.C.T.U. The annual meeting of the Women's Christian Temperance Union was held in Albert-street Hall on Wednesday afternoon, Mrs. Dewar presiding. The treasurer's report showed the finances to be in a healthy condition. The following officers. were elected for the coming year: —President, Mrs. Dewar; vice-president, Mrs. Thorpe ; treasurer, Mrs. Hughes; corresponding secretary, Mi6s N. Dewar; and recording secretary, Miss Evans.
VICTORIA LEAGUE. A meeting of the general council of the Victoria League was held at the Chamber of Commerce Hall last evening. It was decided to form sub-committees for the following : —(1) Assistance and advice to intending settlers; (2) care of soldiers' graves; (3) hospitality to Imperial visitors ; (4) encouragement of Imperial correspondence among children. Mr. W. R. Walker was unanimously elected treasurer of the Auckland branch. The annual subscription was fixed at 2s 6d for ordinary members and Is for associate members (boys and girls). A sub-com-mittee was appointed to draw up a set of rules pertaining to the local objects of the league.
