SACRED HEART COLLEGE.

ANNUAL PRIZE DISTRIBUTION.

Thk annual distribution of prizes in connection with the Sacred Heart College, Ponsonby, was held in St. Benedict's Hall, East-street, last evening, the building being packet! with scholars, parents, and friends. The bishop of the diocese (Dr. Lenihan) and a large number of the clergy were present.

Brother Clement, the principal of the college, in. presenting his report on the past year's work, stated that the progress w.hicK had attended the college since it* inception six years ago had been well sustained, which not only spoke highly for its past administration, but greatly encouraged those responsible for the direction of its affairs in the certain hope of building up a great educational institution for the Catholic youth in New Zealand. The facilities at present provided were taxed to the utmost extent, scholars coming from all parts of New Zealand. They started with the modest roll of eight boarders in 1903, and during the past half-year the roll had reached a total of 61, and the scholars had attained a considerable percentage of passes in public examination?. The prizes were presented by the Bishop, who congratulated the Brothers and the scholars on the excellent results achieved.
