LAND legislation. TWO SETTLEMENT BILLS. PURCHASE OF ESTATES. [hy telegraph.—SPEClAL CORRESPONDENT.] Wellington, Tuesday Morning. Politics have suddenly become more interesting than at any other time during the present Government term of office, tho land question, of course, being mainly responsible for the change that has come over tho scene. The chief point of interest in connection with the first sitting of th© House for the week was a somewhat remarkable speech delivered by the Minister for Railways during a further instalment of the land debate during the afternoon. The motion that the report of the Lands Committee lie on the table was once more talked out till the dinner adjournment. The business of the evening sitting consisted of the third readings of the Shipping and Seamen Bill, District Designations Amendment Bill, and Land Settlement Finance Bill, and the second reading of the Lands for Settlement Administration Bill. Tho House rose at ten minutes to one. The Council held a short sitting yesterday afternoon.
