BEAR KILLS TIGER.
FIGHT TO THE DEATH IN A
MENAGERIE.
DmrrNQ the perforn.ar.ee in - Bostock's menagerie at Edinburgh Marine Gardens a 'terrible , struggle took place between a largo bear and a Bengal tiger, resulting in the death of the latter. A troupe of animals were being put through their performance by the trainer, when the be.iv, the comedian of the troupe, rushed at the tiger Froufrou, an exceptionally fine animal. The audience were spellbound whilst for ten minutes the struggling animals rolled over and over, snarling, biting, and scratching. The trainers meanwhile got the ; other animals safely cut of the arena. They then succeeded in driving off the bear. The tiger was found to be severely lacerated about.the throat, and, had three, ribs broken. 7 It died tho following day. f The bear was also considerably lacerated, but is as lively as ever-".
