MEETINGS.
WOMEN'S POLITICAL LEAGUE. A MEETING of the Women's Political League was held on Thursday afternoon. Mrs. Rule presiding. A letter was received from Mr Lloyd-George, thanking the league for ' its congratulations on the Budget, also one from Sir Joseph Ward, intimating that the Government was negotiating for an improved mail service between Auckland and Frisco, and a close connection with the Vancouver mail steamers at Fiji. Dr. Findlay's Reformatory Institutions Bill was discussed, and the h«po was expressed that it would pa** into i*w. • Some disappointment was Je»t at Mr. W. Crook's remarks on the women's suffrage movement at Home. The opinion was expressed that the women of the United Kingdom would not be justified in demanding votes for all over 21, when the men rave not vet succeeded in obtaining the 'uffroge for all male adults, and were wise in restricting their demands to the ram enfranchisement that men enjoyed at present.
