' ■ ■ It was' recently decided (says Fair lay) to fit a new high-pressure cylinder of improved design to the engines of the steamer Star of >ew Zealand, and it was important that the change should be effected in the shortest possible time, during, if possible, the discharge of her Liverpool consignment. Messrs. David Rollo and Sons, Liverpool, were approached by Messrs J. P. Ccrry and Co., the owners, as to the minimum time required, and the very short time of 10 days was named. Messrs. Hollo set to work on the vessel« arrival, and owing to their well-arranged appliances for such work and splendid organisation thev completed the change, which entailed machining and fitting all auxiliary parts, in the remarkably short period of five and a-h»lf working davs, thus giving the owners great satisfaction and earning for themselves a goodly sum in she wav of premium.
