OPENING OF LANDS.

AUCKLAND AREAS GAZETTED.

PARTICULARS, OF ; SECTIONS.

Wellington, Sunday. Several areas of land in the Auckland district, totalling between 16,000 and 17,000-acres, are gazetted as open for sale or selection. There are two blocks of first-class land in the Waitomo County, some miles from Te Kuiti, the areas being 192 acres and 98 acres respectively. There is also an area of 195 acres of similar land (undulating to broken limestone country) in the Awakino County. In second-class land there are 24 acres in the Ruapekapeka parish (Bay of Islands), 73 acres in the Aruawharo parish (Rodney), 71 acres in the Mangawai parish (Rodney), and two sections in. the Taupiri parish (Waikato), one consisting of 522 acres and one of 517 acres. These areas are situate 14 and 13 miles from the Ohinewai station respectively. All the foregoing lands are to be opened under the optional system, applications closing on December 20. On the same date applications will close for 11 sections of secondclass land in various parts of the district under , the renewable lease system. Six are in the Hokianga County, the areas being 50, 144, 157, 146, 142, and 183 acres. There are two sections of 610 and 630 in the Whareoririo survey district (Awakino), and one of 217 acres in the Tetumu survey district (Tauranga), and two of 1324 and 450 acres in the Selwyn Settlement (Matamata County). A third-class section of 887 acres in the Tautari Settlement (West Taupo), is also included in the list, as well as a village section of five acres in the same settlement.

On the same date also applications will close for 13 sections under the optional system in the Mangonui, Hokianga, Hobson, and Bay of Islands Counties. There is on© section of 142 acres in Takahue (Mangonui), two of 161 and 252 acres in Tutamoe (Hokianga), one of 196 acres in Waoka (Hokianga), one of 357 acres in Tutamoe (Hokianga and Hobson), two of 146 and 261 acres in Waipoua (Hokianga), and six small sections ranging from 17 to 40 acres in Kerikeri (Bay* of Islands).

; On January 26, applications will close for a section of 358 acres (second' class) in the Mangakahia ; survey district (Hobson). This land will be- available under the optional system, and the same conditions apply to 12 second-class sections in the Tutamoe survey district (Hokianga), applications for which will close on February 21. . The' areas of these sections range from 504 to 1088 acres.
