GOLF.
A peculiar and painful accident happened to Mrs. Frank Leckie on the Trentham golf links last week. A gale was blowing, and as Mrs. Leckie walked on to the first tee with her head lowered to escape the force of the blast she did not notice that one of the players was about to drive off. The result was that she Was struck in ■. the face with the full force of a backward swing, and a very painful injury resulted. The injured lady was conveyed with all speed to Wellington in a motor-car to undergo an operation for fracture. Luckily this was completely successful, and Mrs. Leckie is progressing favourably. "
