THE RUGBY GAME.

A meeting of delegates to the Auckland Rugby Union will be held at the Amateur Snorts Clubrooms on Wednesday, the business being to discuss the recommendations made at the recent public meeting. That meeting, which it will be remembered was held in the Chamber of Commerce rooms on October 6, was called for the purnose of discussing the crisis in the game caused by the poorness of competition last season in the district championships. After some discussion certain recommendations having for their purpose the modification of the district scheme were passed, and it is to confirm or reject the recommendations that this meeting has been called. The resolution passed was as follows:—" That it be a recommendation that the rules re-, ferring to the residential qualification be amended as follows: —Rule * 24, delete the figure 4 and substitute 12 in lieu thereof, and rule 25, substitute for the first sentence the following:—' stranger arriving during the season or within the period of 12 months prior to May 1 shall, upon satisfying the Management Committee that ho intends to become a bona-fide resident, be allotted for the remainder of the aforesaid season or period to any district upon which the said committee may decide, but no application of this nature will be considered until such stranger has resided in a district for a period of four weeks.' " . At the annual dinner of the Sydney University Football Club last week presentations were made to Messrs. H. J. Clayton and L. Reynolds, who acted as manager and captain respectively of the team which recently toured New Zealand. In acknowledging tie gifts both gentlemen spoke warmly of the hospitality shown to the team during its stay in the Dominion, and pointed out that the unexpected success achieved by their team of very young players was due to hard training. •'

THE NORTHERN UNION GAME

A meeting of the Executive Committee and delegates from the four affiliated clubs .was held on Thursday evening. There were 19 present. The meeting was called to discuss the position regarding playing-grounds for next season. The; league has four grounds under consideration, and a committee was formed to go into details in connection with same. A silver cup is to be presented to the league for competition among the clubs. The governing body of the game for New 'Zealand will be composed of delegates from each centre, and the headquarters will be in Auckland. -
