THE STALYBRIDGE MURDER

AN ARREST MADE.

By Telegraph.— Association.—Copyright. London, November 18. Cornelius Howard, a cousin of the building contractor Storr, who was fatally stabbed at his residence at Stalybridge last week, has been arrested and charged with the murder.

Mrs. Storr and three servants identified Howard as Storr's assailant.

Mr. Storrs, who was a contractor in a large way, was fatally stubbed a fortnight ago, and it was at the time believed that his assailant was a burglar. This theory, however, was soon discarded by the detectives, the evidence they collected pointing to the fact that robbery was not the motive, and that the man who committed the murder was evidenly well acquainted with the house. Suspicion fell on Mr. Storrs' coachman, a man named Worrall, and so affected him that he committed suicide by hanging himself. An investigation afterwards made proved that he could not possibly have been guilty. It is .known that the man arrested and deceased were on bad terms: Some two months ago a strange man was seen hanging about Goree Hall, which is in a lonely part of Dorsetshire, and he greatly scared the women in the house. It is said, too, that Mr. Storrs about that time received threatening letters.
