THE DRAINAGE SCHEME.

MORE CONTRACTS LET. TOTAL EXPENDITURE NEARLY £50,000. The Works Committee of the Auckland and Suburban Drainage Board met last evening for the purpose of considering th© tenders received for the No. 3 contract (section lof Archhill Gully). The tenders, which had been opened at the previous meeting, were:—Coulson. and Co., £5813 3s 4d; J. Griffin, £6750; Forrest and Lovett, £7043 8s; A. and T. Bnrt, £8326 2s 6d. The engineer's estimate was £7250. The tender of Forester and Lovett was accepted.

The following tenders for contract No. 4 were also considered —D. Finnane, £2430 19s 9d ; Coulson and Co., £2418 ss; McLean and Woollev, £3098 14«; G. Knight, £2315 lis 6d ; Forrest and Lovett, £2409 is; J. Griffin, £3162; Burt and C 0... Limited, £2469. The engineer's estimate was £2850. The tender of Mr. G. Knight was accepted.

Previous to the acceptance of the tenders last night, two other contracts had been let. One was for the construction of the second section of the main sewer across Hobcon Bay, which was let for £26,408. the other was for the first section of the main sewer, from Okahu Point to Hobeon Bay, which was let for £12,614 19s 9d. These amounts, together with the expenditure of £9359 7s 6d entered upon last night, make a total of £48,283 3s 3d.
