Waijiate, Monday. A middle-aged man named Robert Hyland Smith, well-known as a bookmaker, committed - suicide at 11.30 o'clock last night by cutting his throat with a razor. He was fined last week for assaulting an old man on the show grounds whilst drunk, and this and other things preyed on his mind.
