Owing to America, under the new tariff, re-imposing, the 'i tonnage tax on the Great Lakes, Sir Wilfrid Laurier (Prime Minister of Canada) is about-to retaliate. n Only one Canadian passenger and one freight line is' now seriously affected, but many American vessels carry grain from v Port Arthur, in Canada, to ! Buffalo, and.these will be subjected to a Canadian tax.
