Aged draughts sold at from £17 to £31; waggon and express class, £26 to £35; those suitable for butchers' and grocers' carts, £17 15s to £25 10s; buggy horses and - good hacks, £12 10s to £21; light harness sorts, £11 10s to £19 15s; gig ponies and ordinary hacks, £2 10s to £8 15s; light to medium unbroken colts and Allies, 3 to syrs, £9 10s to £18 sr; trotters, £16 16s to 26gns.; trotting sulky, £11; dray, £8: spring carts, '• £14 10s to £15; gigs, £11 and £25. Tallow, 21s 6d to 23s 6d. v " '-t . Horsehair, Ib 2d to Is sd. ', On Thursday we held a clearance sale at Mr. J. Steenson's, Puni. There was a large attendance, and high prices ruled. The dairy cows sold at from £6 5s to £14 (averaging £10 0s 3d each); bulls, £4 10s to £6 ss; yearling and 2-vear heifers, £3 5s to £5 ss; farm mare, £27 10s; unbroken 2-year-olds, £11 15s; pigs, sows £4 -5s to £6 10s, porkers 23s 6d, weaners 8s to 12s 6d; fowls, 2s 6d to 3s. Implements and sundries realised full values. * , ,\ AtEemuera on Thursday stock of all classes were well represented. Dairy cows ranged in price from £3 10s to £9 12s 6d; dry, £2 10s to £4 10s; 2i-year steers, £4, 10s to " £4 17s 6d; yearlings, to £2 10s. Young and fat calves, in average numbers, met with a ready sale, bringing from 2s to 52s (93 sold). There" was an average yarding of fat cattle of nice quality. Prices were well up to last week's quotations. Steers ranged in price from £5 10s to £10 7s 6d; cows, £4 10s to £7 2s 6d (333 sold). Both mutton and lamb were well represented, . and met with a ready sale right, through, wethers in their wool bringing from 16s 3d to £1 3s 3d; shorn, 12s to las 6d; ewes, 10s 6d to 14s 3d (1720 sold). Three hundred and ninety- lambs ' were penned, the quality being good. Bidding was steady right through. Prices were from 10s 6d to 18s. Pigs came forward in large numbers. Porkers and baconerc were easier, but small and choppers maintained their values—small 10s to 15s; slips, to 18s; Porkers, to 30s; baconers, to 50s; choppers, to 107s (173 sold). Poultry, Is .2d to 2s 3d.

Prime milling is worth from 4s 5d to 4s 6d. Oats are in keen demand, and stocks are small. Best milling is worth from 1b {Id to Is 9£d.

The copper market is active, higher American quotations stimulating buying for use. Prices ure: Spot, £57 13s 9d; three months, £59 18s 9d; electrolvtic, £60 10s. Tin: Spot, £138 ss; three months, £140 ss. ;; CHILLED ' BEEF. The Marathon's shipment of chilled beef was landed in excellent condition. Best hindquarters, equal to.. the best Argentine, made the same price, 4|d; second quality, 4d to 4£d. Weddel and Company ' are endeavouring to arrange or • a large shipment from Australia and New Zealand. The New Zealand Loan ' and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, have received the following cablegram from their London house, under date November Tallow We quote present spot values for the undermentioned descriptions of tallow:—Fine mutton, 34s 6d per cwt; good beef, 33s 6d; mixed, 32s 3d. The market is active. Wool: As compared with closing rates at last sales, prices for merino are about 5 per cent, to 7i per cent, lower, and for crossbred wool about the same as last sales. Messrs. Dalgety "and Company, Limited, Auckland, have received the following cable from their London office, under date November 3:—Tallow: Tallow in general is 6d to Is higher since our last wire.
