MEETINGS.
• SUNDAY-SCHOOL FETE;, The annual , soiree and public -, meeting ~ in connection with the Newton Congregational Sunday-school, . which was held: in,. ; the schoolroom, Edinburgh-street, '•<on i\ Tuesday night, proved an enjoyable gathering. Mr; C. J. Parr presided, and in i his opening address remarked that the community would bo the better for more of the oldtime Puritan seriousness, which went hand-in-hand with a sens© of responsibility in civic, political, and educational matters. The attitude of young people was now far less serious towards religion than towards sport. Young' men were deplorably deficient in the interest which ; should attach to civic or political matters, while young girls spent far too mych. time in parading the streets. ' <,"-. :-k ■
