QUESTION DAY IN THE HOUSE.
THE SEAT OF GOVERNMENT.
ACCIDENT INSURANCE BILL.
WELLINGTON'S NARROW STREETS
[DT TELEGRAPH. Sr-ECIAL CORRESPONDENT.]
Wellington, Thursday Morning. The principal feature of yesterday's proceedings in the House was the presentation of the report of the Police Commission, and a discussion that ensued on the motion to lay it on the table. The severe criticism of the present administration of the Police Department, which pervades the report, was commented upon in strong terms by several speakers, including Messrs. Arnold and T. E. Taylor, whose former allegations as to the condition of the force were responsible for the setting up of the Commission. The Prime Minister stated that an opportunity of fully discussing the report would be afforded later in the session.
This debate was followed by a short discussion on the Ministerial answers to questions, in the course of which Mr. Glover made a plea for the consideration of the question of re-transferring the seat of government to Auckland. The Legislative Council held a short sitting during the afternoon.
