Potato blight is reported to be very preralent in the Waitotara district. Ladybirds are not so numerous now in Taranaki as they were early in the spring, Jonsequently the aphis has increased. The Mount Eden reservoir was emptied and cleaned out yesterday. This com- ■■' pleted the annual cleaning-out of the city reservoirs. There have been heavy rains throughout the district during the past few days, and shearing has been delayed in consequence (telegraphs our Gisborne correspondent). A resolution protesting against any amendment to the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act. in so far as it concerns the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants, was passed by. the Christ-church branch of the society yesterday.
