EXTENSIVE DAMAGE.

Mexico, August 23. An extensive fire occurred last night in Mexico City, a considerable portion of the business area being destroyed. The total damage is estimated at a million and a-half dollars (£300,000). New York, August 23. A fire at Decatur, Illinois, destroyed a valuable business block, containing 20 buildings. The total damage is estimated at a million dollars (£200,000). London, August 23. A fire broke out in a block of buildings between Cannon-street and Abchurch Lane. Forty offices, were gutted, in addition to the New South Wales Government storeroom, containing records, Immigration Department circulars, litera-, ture, and exhibits.
