The plans of a new steamer, to carry 1000 passengers, for Lake Wakatipu were submitted to the Minister for Marine while on a visit to the Otago Foundry last week (says an exchange). The new vessel will be a paddle-wheel boat, which will be able to run from Kingston to' Queenstown jn an hour and a-half. ' The steamer Glendevon, due nt Auckland about the end of the month with cargo from New York, will proceed from New Zealand to Newcastle and will there load coal for Java. Mr. S.
