HUNTING.
PAKURAXGA HOUNDS. THE Pakuranga. Hounds met on Saturday at the Road Board office, East Tamaki, and proceeded to Green Mount, where they were cast, off on Mr. Fercy's. property, running round his farm and over the road, up Smaies' mountain, thence back again over the road and round Mr. Perry's farm again, running into their hare in a ploughed field after about an hour's hot hunting. It was pleasing to note that though the pack passed more than once through a paddock filled with *heep not a hound turned aside or took the smallest notice of the sheep, a fact which reflects great credit on their training. In the afternoon a second hare was found on Mr. Guy's property, and ran across the lands of Messrs. Grower, Neill, Allen, and Douglas, and thence back again to Mr. Crower's paddocks, where hounds were called off, the hare running amongst sheep. After the meet the members were most hospitably entertained by Mrs. A. Harris and her family at the homestead at Green Mount. Amongst those following were: The huntsman (Mr. A. Selby), on Mountain; the whip (Mr. C. Selby), on Tui Cotuj .Mrs. McLaughlin (on Tiny), Misses R. Gorrie (on Skipper), West (on Potilcl), Gill (on Tikitere), Harris (on Louis), Lichfield, Sturges, Weston, Messrs. W. R. Bioomfleld (on M'Liss), Bullock-Webster, B. Myers (on Bowler), S. Our Waiuku correspondent writes Although the first part of the afternoon on Wednesday last was cold and showery, some good sport was had with the Pakuranga Hounds. The grounds hunted were the properties of 'Messrs. T. McGowan, Henare Kaihau, Makgill and Middleton, A. Manning, and W. McNaughton. Hares were numerous and the hounds were kept going nearly the whole of the time. There were three " kills'' during the afternoon.
