Mrs. Ellen Coi/mjRXE died at Outram on Saturday, aged 100 {says a Press Association message). The Warrimoo, which left Wellington on Friday for Sydney, took 146 Lincoln rams consigned from Christohurch. The National Bank intend erecting a new establishment in Dunedin, to cost £30,000 (says a Press Association message). . The commercial traveller, William Alfred Masters, who was fined £100 on Thursday for bringing opium into New Zealand, has paid the amount of the fine. The subsidy of £25 granted to the Victoria College (Wellington) Students' Association by the Relief Committee for the gymnasium is to be expended in forming a music-hall and dance-room on the too floor of the gymnasium. "A small boy about 13 years of age, who had no passage ticket, was discovered on the Warrimoo just as she was about to sail for Sydney on Friday. He said he had missed his father, who intended to take him to Sydney. The youngster was sent ashore. A new regulation is gazetted giving the Minister for Telegraphs power, if he thinks fit, to charge half ' the ordinary annual charge for the telephone to any public hospital or public benevolent or charitable institution. If a new line is required the institution will have to pay for it. "I do not yet feel competent to reply to the toast of 'The Parliament of New Zealand,'" remarked Mr. D. McLaren, M.P., at the letter-carriers' annual dinner at Wellington on Friday night. Mr. McLaren proceeded to say that the fact was that as yet he knew practically nothing about Parliament. The two principal parties in the House appeared to him to be twins, "and," he added, "I am still in a confused state of mind as to which is which." (Laughter.)
