AUSTRALIAN PRODUCE.
MEAT PREMIUM RAISER. By Telegraph.—Prci* Association.—Copyright (Received August 22, 8.40 p.m.) London, August 22. In accordance with the cablegram of Juno 4, underwriters generally have raised the premium on Australian meat by 7s 6d'to 10s. The cable referred to read ass, follows: — Tho principal underwriters insuring Australian produce have requested Mr. Ooghlan (Affont-Goneral for New South Wales) to make representations to tho several State Governments of Australia regarding tho unsatisfactory manner of handling .frozen mutton in Australia. The underwriters intimate that unless the Governments force better handling they will be compelled to discontinue underwriting altogether ho far as Australian products are concerned, or raise the rates to such an extent as to make business impossible. They suggest compulsory inspection at the ship's side, and insulated conveyances between the freezing works and the ship, as is done in New Zealand.
