AUCKLAND'S LEADING THOROUGHFARE.
QUEEN-STREET, AT THE INTERSECTION OF CUSTOM-STREET, IN 1909. The growth of Auckland City has been so marked in the past that it is interesting to speculate upon the probable appearance that this busy portion of the main thoroughfare will present in the immediate future. The volume of traffic is increasing steadily year by year, and the completion of the new Post Office Buildings will add greatly to the present bustle and activity of Lower Queen-street. Apart from those causes, the fact of this intersection forming the junction for the suburban tram lines will help to swell the tide of traffic in a very large measure.
