EXHIBITION OF DAFFODILS.
The annual exhibition of daffodils " and |"| spring flowers in aid of funds of St. Mark's Church Guild was held inthe parish hall yesterday. The > exhibition of daffodils, although, an excellent one, was, ' on the whole, not quite up to last year's standard, owing to the irregular season. There were, however, more varieties;; shown this year than last. Professor Thomas had on view a splendid collection, . including different species grown from his yj own seedlings. Captain McQueen also ex- -inhibited a number of choice varieties., of daffodils, besides some very fine hyacinths and early tulips. The collection of mixed _ • spring flowers was a feature of the exhibi- ' tion, there being some splendid kinds, on :; view. Following is the prize list: — ~7
Bouquets: Mies Kissling, 1; Miss Pickmere, 2. Baskets (Class I.): Miss E. Speary, 1. Baskets (Class II.): Miss E. Robertoh", 1, . Best Table Decoration: Miss F. Edgerly, , 1; Miss A. Snelling, 2. A special prize was also awarded to six children belonging - to ih.6 Epsom Kindergarten school. . Daffodils were shown by the following: —Mesdames Grinrod, Whitney, Eoberton, Misses Bull, Herrold, the Rev. Beatty, and Mr. Bull. Spring flowers were exhibited by Misses Herrold, Bull, Edgerley, Farley, and Mr. George. The prizes for the various competitions were donated by Mesdames O'Halloran, .\, Lusher, Roberton, J. P. Campbell, and Miss Herrold, The judges were Mesdames A. Clark, H. Campbell, and J. H. Campbell. In the afternoon there was a large at- , tendance, tea and cakes being provided, by the members of St. Mark's Guild. There ■ was also a large attendance in the evening, when a concert was given under the direction of Mr. Garland. The contributors were Miss King Davis, Messrs. Davis, Grinrod, and Brown. The exhibition was carried out under the supervision of Mrs. E. W. Baton, assisted by Miss Bull. '" "" ;
