London, August 18. The House of Commons sat continuously for 18 hours on the Finance Bill, rising at 8.45 a.m. to-day. The appearance of Mr. Winston Churchill (President of the Board of Trade) in slippers,' pyjamas, and an overcoat caused merriment on the Government benches, and raised strong Opposition protests.

An amendment to the Finance Bill was agreed to, allowing an appeal to the High Court from the referee's decision in connection with land taxation.
