At a general meeting of the Canterbury branch of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants, held on Wednesday, the following resolution was carried unanimously —"Seeing that the result of the Minister's right of veto in regard to appeal cases taken advantage of by the present Minister for Railways has been to deprive the members of the service of their right under the Railways Classification Act and to place in the hands of the Departmental officers the sole unrestricted right to interpret and administer the said Act, thereby defeating the intention of Parliament, which was to give all members the right of procuring justice at the hands of their superior officers, every effort must be made by the sooiety to have the Minister's right of veto dispensed with, and this meeting heartily approves of the action of those members who have resigned their seats on the Appeal Board."
