INTERESTING TO DEERSTALKERS.
There is occasionally some misunderstanding of the law as it applies to the ammunition, used by deerstalkers in Now Zealand. Clause 7 of the Animals' Protection Act of 1907 is, however, very clear: —
It, shall be unlawful to use, for tho purpose of taking or killing any deer, moose, elk, or other animal declared to bo imported game, any metal-patched or metal-eased bullet:
Provided that this provision shall not apply to the use of the bullet, known as the' expansive or mushroom bullet.
The proper cartridge for deerstalkers is the Colonial Ammunition Company's Special Soft-Nose .303. This same cartridge, only charged with a hard-nose bullet, broke all records at the last Trent.ham Championship Meeting. Tin; smashing power of the SoftNose .393 is extraordinary. Tho keenest New Zealand sportsmen swear by C.A.C. ammunition, because experience proves it to be the best, anywhere. Splendid penetration, infallible ignition. "C A.C." cartridges arc stocked by all the lost storekeepers, ironmongers, and ammunition dealers throughout New Zealand. They have no superiors in the world.
