TOLD BY FATHER VAUGHAN.
An old Irishman, who had recently recovered from a severe sickness, chanced to meet the parish priest, who had been summoned during his ilness to administer the rites of the church to the dying, as he was considered to be near death's door, and the following conversation took place : —
" Ah. Pat, . I see you are out again. We thought you were gone, sure; you had a very serious time of it." ' , •'Yes, your reverence, indade I had.; When you were so near death's door were you not afraid to meet your -laker?" "No, indade, *er reverence," replied Pat, "it was the" ether gintleman I was feared of."
