DUG HIS OWN GRAVE.
MURDER BY A PRIEST: CAPTURE • AND CONFESSION. The town of Sarajevo is greatly excited over the discovery of a murder which has been committed by a Mohammedan priest named Hamdo Oruc tinder 1 particularly atrocious circumstances. The ' priest confided to a Turkish gentleman named Mustar fa Patkovic that he knew of a treasure hidden in the mountains nor far from the city, and offered to.share it with' him in return for- his " assistance. The two accordingly set out one night for the mountains, their quest "i being known only to their wives. Mustafa Patkovic. had with him, as had previously been agreed upon, a considerable sum of money as a sign of good faith. On arrival at a lonely spot the merchant began to dig, the priest in the meanwhile standing beside him and praying. ■■ When a hole sufficiently large to contain a man had been made the treacherous priest suddenly produced an axe from beneath his garments, and with it killed the merchant, and after taking possession, of the money, buried: the body in the hole. The wife*of the murdered man, alarmed at the prolonged absence of her husband, at length inquired at the house of * the priest, when she was informed that the merchant had fled with the treasure. Notbeing * satisfied with this. reply,;however, she informed the authorities. * Hamdo Oruc fled the next day to Turkish territory, bat he was arrested and has confessed to the crime.
