The amalgamation of the Labour Journal and Mines Record into one volume will not
affect the publication of the awards of the .Arbitration Court, which are to be printed separately. . j
Two Queensland pastoralists, Messrs. - . Eakins and Whittingham, are at present making an extended toor of New Zealand/ gathering data about the subject of freezing works and cold storage generally. Within a week, over one hundred cases of whisky were delivered in Milton to order. The correspondent to the Otago Daily Times reports, that'this'was in view of the closing of the hotels on the Wednesday night. The old man Samuel Gee. who was knocked down by a tramcar on Wednesday, was much more seriously hurt than was thought at the time of the accident. On ~ inquiry at the hospital last night he was stated to be unconscious, and in a very serious condition.
Five of the "casuals" (married men) were dismissed from Hillside workshops last week, but when it was found that they were being replaced by single men the attention of the Hon. J. A. Millar was called to the matter, and the marvied men have since been reinstated.
