MEETINGS.

REMUERA ROAD BOARD. Thk Remuera Road Board met last night, when there were present: The chairman (Mr. J. Dempsey) and Messrs. C. A. Cawkwell, J. S. Dickson, E Bond, and A. O. Pilkington. The. Minutes Questioned: Mr. Cawkwell criticised the minutes of the last meeting. It would appear from them that the Board had agreed to cut away the footpath in front of a new house on the main road and build a. brick wall. That, however, was not intended. It was Intended to cut away the footpath and to leave the owner of the house to build what be liked in the way of a wall. After the meeting he had discovered that the wall was being built by the Board, and despite his protest it was finished. This he considered dishonest. Mr. Dempsey said it was not more dishonest than the action of the Board" in building a wall to keep the earth from falling in any other residence. He thought that the proposal not to build the wall had been carried. Messrs. Bond and Dickson said the minutes were correct. Mr. Cawkwell considered it would be dishonest to confirm the minutes. The wall, which was 2ft high, was not necessary to keep the earth back from the footpath. He moved that the account be sent to the owner, but the motion lapsed and the minutes were confirmed. Sanitation: It was resolved to ask the Health Department to undertake the sanitary supervision of the district at a charge not exceeding £20. Dr. Flirty (district health officer), who was present, said he would iecommend to Dr Valintine that the work be undertaken. Manukau Water Supply: Messrs. Dempsey and Cawkwell were appointed to attend a conference of the Manukau Water Supply Board on Thursday.
