"W. :■' •' " »' . . •..i.,'- " CRICKET. NOTES AND COMMENTS. The win of North Shore oyer Eden Colts on Saturday lias absolutely settled the fa to of this season's senior grade championship. The suburban club now loads by nine, points, and their position is unassailable. With the assistance of the wicket Howdcn made the Colts' sticks fly to good effect, and not one of the Edenitcs ever appeared at homo to him. Jackson, a promoted third-class player, bowled well in the first -innings, but was bowling oil the wicket in the second, and did not maintain such a good length. Beech, the left-hand bowler of the Colts, was their premier batsman on the day, making decent scores'in both innings.. The win of University over Grafton was somewhat of a surprise, although on the day it was quite to bo expected, the wicket favouring the .bowlers., Parnell's win over Ponsonby was "close and exciting, the westerners turning a hopeless situation into a righting chance, and then failing with a win in sight, only three runs being wanted to equal Parnell's, score. Eden A easily accounted for a weakened City team, gaining a three-point win, which has placed them second in championship honours.
