A dreadful tragedy occurred at North Brighton, a suburb of Melbourne, some time during the' night, William Holmes, his wife, and two children, aged respectively four, years and two months, being found dead in bed this morning, Holmes with his throat cut, and the others with their : heads battered- in. The man had used a claw-hammer to kill his family, and then committed suicide. . . ', -• , '[ '-. Holmes had been unable to obtain work, and had latterly, grown very despondent, and it is supposed that he committed the crime in a sudden fit'of mania. ,- -
