NATIVES AND LIQUOR.
[BY TELEGRAPH.— PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Waiboa (JIB.) Thursday. At the Wairoa Court, before Mr. Barton, S.M., two half-castes "were charged with having supplied liquor at a Christmas feast at Whakapi to male and female natives. Fourteen persons consumed 11 bottles of whisky, with the result that they all became drunk. The defence was "that the liquor was drunk at the place of supply, and was not taken away from the feast.' The- Court ruled that the place of supply was Dalgety's licensed wholesale premises, mid the accused caused it to bo consumed at the feast. Fines and costs were inflicted to the amount of £36.
